Deputies rousting a man sleeping in his car in a farm field found two apparent “destructive devices” in the vehicle, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said.
John Daniel Adams, 41, of Fort Payne, Ala., has been charged with possession/manufacture/transportation of a destructive device, according to Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen.
He said in a news release that a local resident called 911 on Tuesday about the car stopped in a soybean field off County Road 47 in Dutton, Ala.
The deputies found that Adams was wanted on a DeKalb County warrant and took him into custody. During a search of the car later, officers found two cylinders wrapped in black tape with green wires attached.
The Dutton Fire Department and explosive ordnance personnel from the Alabama Fire Marshals Office, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, ATF and FBI were contacted and responded to the scene.
