Preliminary findings that will be incorporated in a Catoosa County Comprehensive Plan 2011-2031 were made public during a framework meeting held last Thursday.
Officials with MACTEC, an Atlanta-based engineering and consulting firm hired to assist in this state-mandated upgrade, presented results of citizen surveys, a development map and recounted how the planning process works.
Gerry Depken, who represented Fort Oglethorpe on the Comprehensive Plan’s steering committee and attended several of the visioning meetings, described the framework presentation as “a total summary of everything that was suggested during the earlier meetings.”
“This was the first draft that included the citizen input,” Depken said. “After everyone had an opportunity to review the citizen input, the entire process was recapped.”
Public opinion was recorded throughout the process and the most frequently noted items or issues, good or bad, were given highest priority for consideration when the final version of the comprehensive plan is prepared.
