THIS WEEK IN EDUCATION NEWS
Tennessee’s annual statewide assessment, TNReady, officially began Monday in schools across the state.
Last week, Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn said the testing platform, run by Questar, had been performing “as expected” after 22,000 tests were completed during the state’s early testing window.
Earlier this month, Gov. Bill Lee said testing would return to “paper and pencil” tests next year while the state finds a new testing vendor.
Locally, it’s a busy week for Hamilton County Schools leaders, as well.
The school board met Monday night for an agenda review session ahead of Thursday’s monthly school board meeting and the board’s third budget work session.
Board members, roused by District 1 board member Rhonda Thurman and District 6 board member Jenny Hill, discussed the effect Lee’s current school vouchers plan could have on Hamilton County.
