Police have arrested the suspect in Thursday’s early morning shooting at North Concord Road that killed 23-year-old Michael Newby.
Andrew Graves, 24, was arrested by detectives with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office about 3:15 a.m. Friday. He was found upstairs at a relative’s home at 1110 Elrod Street Place in Cleveland, Tenn.
Mr. Graves was handed over to Chattanooga police, taken to the Hamilton County Jail and booked on charges of first-degree murder in the slaying of Mr. Newby.
Mr. Graves was at the residence with his girlfriend, Destiny Black, 18.
Although Ms. Black’s father said he worried Mr. Graves had abducted her, Ms. Black said she willingly joined him. She was not present at the shooting, said Capt. Tim Carroll, head of the Chattanooga police major crimes division.
