Volunteer firefighters this morning extinguished an attic fire at an East Brainerd home before it could spread to the living areas, emergency services personnel said.
At 7:15 a.m. the homeowner called 911 to report heavy smoke on the second floor of his house at 835 Windy Hills Drive in the Hurricane Creek subdivision, according to Amy Maxwell, public information officer with Hamilton County Emergency Services.
She said the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department arrived and reported heavy smoke coming from the house’s ridge vents. Fire engineer Eddie Reeves said firefighters attacked the fire in the attic from inside the home and extinguished it quickly.
Due to the size of the home, the Tri-Community department requested a mutual aid response from Catoosa County and the East Ridge Fire Department for more manpower and equipment, Ms. Maxwell said.
Tri-Community Fire Marshal Amory Planchard said the fire’s cause is undetermined, and it will be investigated by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS personnel responded to the scene, Ms. Maxwell said.
