Dade County, Ga., school board members have started conducting interviews for a replacement for retiring Superintendent Patty Priest.
School board Vice Chairman Mutt Massengale said board members have conducted a number of interviews and more were planned over the weekend.
“We still don’t have a timeline or anything yet,” Massengale said. “There’ll probably be a second round of interviews. We just don’t know yet.”
Officials said the post garnered 45 applications, including three local residents – Dade Elementary School Assistant Principal Mike Lawson, Davis Elementary School Principal Mike Rich and a third local person who has asked to remain anonymous because of present employment, officials said.
Massengale said the search for a new superintendent is “always interesting.”
