AUG. 30

TENNESSEE TECH

7 p.m., Finley Stadium, Chattanooga

Radio/Online: 96.1 FM/ESPN3

Series history: The relatively nearby programs haven’t met since 2014 and a 38-17 victory for UTC, which has won three straight in the series. The Golden Eagles last won in 2004 when they beat the Mocs 52-34 in a shootout in Cookeville. The Mocs hold a commanding 29-10 advantage, which includes a 19-6 edge in Chattanooga.

SEPT. 8

THE CITADEL

6 p.m., Johnson-Hagood Stadium, Charleston, South Carolina

Radio/Online: 96.1 FM/ESPN+

Series history: The Mocs lead 30-19-2 and have split 25 meetings in Charleston with a tie in 1930. The Bulldogs and their triple-option attack recently have caused the Mocs problems, with the cadets rushing for 747 yards in the last two meetings – both Citadel wins. The Mocs lost 22-14 in Charleston in 2016 and fell 20-14 last season, when they had four chances in the red zone to score a tying touchdown (to set up a winning PAT) but threw a fourth-down interception in the end zone.

SEPT. 15

UT-MARTIN

4 p.m., Hardy M. Graham Stadium, Martin, Tennessee

Radio/Online: 96.1 FM/ESPN+

Series history: The two University of Tennessee system schools have faced each other in football only five times, with the Mocs winning three. The last win for UTC was 26-7 in the 1993 season opener on the road – the schools’ only meeting in Martin until this season. The Skyhawks have won the last two meetings, including a 21-7 victory last year.

SEPT. 22

SAMFORD

7 p.m., Finley Stadium, Chattanooga

Radio/Online: 96.1 FM/ESPN+

Series history: UTC holds a dominant 30-10-3 advantage, dating back to 1906. The Mocs have won four straight meetings, including a 23-21 upset victory last season in Birmingham when the Mocs were 1-7 at the time and the Bulldogs were ranked eighth in the country.

SEPT. 29

EAST TENNESSEE STATE

7:30 p.m., William B. Greene Jr. Stadium, Johnson City

Radio/Online: 96.1 FM/ESPN+

Series history: After winning four of five games in the series, the Buccaneers disbanded the football program after the 2003 season. They revived the program in 2014, started playing a year later and rejoined the Southern Conference in 2016. The Mocs have outscored them 47-10 in the two meetings since, with a 10-3 win last year in the season finale for both programs.

OCT. 6

WOFFORD

3 p.m., Finley Stadium, Chattanooga

Radio/Online: 96.1 FM/ESPN+

Series history: It has become an even series that was controlled by the Mocs early on, with wins in the first five matchups. Wofford has had three three-game winning streaks in the series, and a win this season would make a fourth one. The Terriers – ranked eighth at the time – edged UTC last season, needing a field goal in overtime to defeat the then 2-7 Mocs 24-21 in Spartanburg.

OCT. 13

WESTERN CAROLINA

3:30 p.m., E.J. Whitmire Stadium, Cullowhee, North Carolina

Radio/Online: 96.1 FM/ESPN+

Series history: The Catamounts ended an eight-game losing streak to the Mocs in big fashion last season, taking a 45-7 win in a game in which two UTC quarterbacks were lost for the season. The Mocs still lead the series 27-17 and haven’t lost in Cullowhee since 2008.

OCT. 27

VIRGINIA MILITARY INSTITUTE

3 p.m., Finley Stadium, Chattanooga

Radio/Online: 96.1 FM/ESPN+

Series history: The Mocs have won four straight meetings, getting their first win of 2017 last year by defeating the Keydets 63-7 in Lexington, Virginia. UTC leads the series 16-7-1, with VMI last winning 35-31 in Chattanooga on Oct. 19, 2002.

NOV. 3

FURMAN

1 p.m., Paladin Stadium, Greenville, South Carolina

Radio/Online: 96.1 FM/ESPN3

Series history: The Paladins lead 28-19, but the Mocs had put together a string of six wins in seven meetings until last season’s 41-14 loss in Chattanooga. Freshman quarterback Cole Copeland made his first career start, completing 30 of 42 passes for 317 yards and two touchdowns.

NOV. 10

MERCER

1 p.m., Finley Stadium, Chattanooga

Radio/Online: 96.1 FM/ESPN+

Series history: The Mocs are leading 18-8-1, but the teams have split four meetings since the Bears brought back their program prior to the 2013 season. Mercer won 30-10 last year, continuing the long string of each team winning at its home venue. There hasn’t been a road victory in the series since Mercer won 7-0 on Nov. 11, 1933.

NOV. 17

SOUTH CAROLINA

TBA, Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, South Carolina

TV/Radio: TBA/96.1 FM

Series history: It will be the first meeting between the two schools, but it will be the ninth Southeastern Conference team the Mocs have played. South Carolina has picked to finish second in the SEC East. It will be the fifth consecutive season that the Gamecocks have faced a team from the Southern Conference. They are 3-1 in those games, falling 23-22 to The Citadel on Nov. 21, 2015 – the last time an SEC team has lost to an FCS school.
