Homeless families get a runaround

I do not understand how there is no help for homeless families. They send you in circles for places that help but they all send you somewhere else! I work only minimum wage and have three children. No one knows what to say. I wish someone would have answers and help for me and all the other families in my situation.

Judges can’t overrule God

Marriage can only exist between a man and a woman. We know this because God made the woman from the man and brought her to him so that they could become one flesh (Genesis 2:18-25).

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, confirmed this when He said, speaking of marriage, that in the beginning God made them male and female (Mark 10:2-9). Since both God the Father and God the Son have already ruled on this, no earthly judge or panel of judges can change it. Nor is it open to “majority rule.”

Because the primary purpose of marriage is procreation (Genesis 1:28), logic dictates that marriage can exist between a man and a woman only.

It is impossible for two individuals of the same sex to produce a child. This is against nature (Romans 1:26-32).

Some may argue that marriage should exist between a man and a woman because of “societal norms” or “traditional family values.” These are false reasons because they change. However, God’s standard never changes.

Any judge or panel of judges who arrogantly attempt to overrule the Lord God concerning marriage should be impeached. God has the final word on human marriage.

Allow Germans leeway on test

If Germany allows their driver’s test to be taken in English, then allow them to take ours in German … if not, then let them learn English.

Books express authors’ views

A recent letter about Islam mentioned “foundation books” but neglects to mention three important ones.

Four books of scriptural revelation are recognized: Koran (compilation of inspired revelations to Muhammad), Pentatuch (first five books) and Psalms from Old Testament, and Christian Gospels. Hadith is regarded as quasi-scriptural, but not divine, revelations, based on noninspirational sayings and deeds of Muhammad and his companions.

Teachings of four Gospels are accepted, but Muslims believe texts were corrupted by translators and not as God revealed them. Pentatuch and Psalms are revered, but there’s charge that they have been falsified by Jews.

Quran uses term “People of the Book” to include all monotheists, including Jews, Christians and Muslims. They have protection.

Quran can be confusing. Early caliph decreed it organized by chapter length; not in order of revelations. References to killing Jews relates to broken promises at Medina where Jews turned and joined forces attacking Muslims. It did not apply to other Jews in Arabia or other parts of world.

Living in Muslim country a couple of years helps in understanding Islam. Books express authors’ views.

Earlier immigrants were ‘legal’ ones

A letter regarding the people who immigrated to this country left out a very significant fact: they were all “legal” and went through the proper process to become citizens.

Also, concerning another letter, the last two years of the Bush administration the Congress was controlled by Democrats. It is the Congress which spends the money, not the president.

Obama’s rule is by ‘fiat’

The very least we should expect from our elected leaders is that they govern by the Constitution; not rule by “fiat.”

President Obama has repeatedly and consistently ignored the will of the people in everything from a disastrous path to socialized medicine to a cynical lawsuit against Arizona that had nothing to do with addressing the monumental problems caused by illegal immigration.

And, most egregious was the backdoor appointment of czars (36) without Senate confirmation or background investigations to determine their fitness for government service. Many of these appointees are recognized radicals from the 1960-70s and were active in subversive organizations during that era.

This president’s use and abuse of the executive order authority is unprecedented and given new meaning to the “arrogance of power.”

Politicians’ use of ‘gods’ on rise

It has become fashionable for politicians to plaster their gods onto their campaign advertisements. Is this new in politics? Previously, a politician’s god might be mentioned, but mainly after they were elected and usually in the context of gratitude.

A politician has told us on TV that his god is the master of the universe and we all should serve him. I wonder what power he and like-minded politicians are willing to wield to make us serve him.

I often wish a god, any god, would appear on CNN, even Fox. After centuries of invisibility we deserve at least one press conference. Are souls injected into replicating cells? Are gays allowed to not marry in heaven like everyone else? Who’s guarding the guardian angels?

Some politicians have associations with fanatical groups whose primary goal besides destroying our government is to convert us all to their version of Christianity. They would use the public schools to teach our children that human history, begun in a garden with a talking snake, is science.

I suppose a politician could govern OK while believing that Mohammed, or any other prophet, launched into the sky without rocket fuel, but it must give us pause.

Stranded motorists get needed help

On Aug. 2, my daughter and I found ourselves stranded in traffic on Hixson Pike when her car suddenly stopped and wouldn’t go any further.

A man in an oncoming car stopped, got out and pushed our car into a service station nearby and got us out of traffic. Two other men offered to help us. One man, whose name was Cory, found the problem immediately and proceeded to fix it temporarily so that we could get home out of that awful heat that day.

We thank everyone who offered their help. My daughter says there are truly angels around us.
