Chester Frost Park master plan includes ideas for Pinky’s Point

Hamilton County is one step closer to having a master plan for Chester Frost Park that will include possible uses for a long-ignored 250-acre parcel on the banks of Lake Chickamauga.

The Hamilton County Commission voted Wednesday to allow the Parks and Recreation Department to work with a consulting firm on the Chester Frost Park Enhancement Plan, which is being sparked by a state tourism grant.

Indianapolis-based PROS Consulting will receive $39,920 to advise the county on the park plan that will feature ideas for Pinky’s Point, a TVA-owned area about two miles south of the park.

Half the consulting fee is coming from the state grant, the other half from the Parks and Recreation budget. The county leases Pinky’s Point from TVA on a month-by-month basis for $1, county officials said.

County Mayor Jim Coppinger said this week he hopes the consultation process will produce recommendations for how to best use the area at minimal taxpayer expense.
