Hamilton County: Stranded hiker rescued on Mowbray Mountain

A woman hiker apparently suffering from heat exhaustion and stranded on Mowbray Mountain was helped to safety by Hamilton County rescuers this afternoon, officials said.

The incident shortly after noon involved a 57-year-old woman and occurred above the Pocket Wilderness area, said Bill Tittle, chief of emergency management for Hamilton County.

Mr. Tittle said the hiker “got too hot and got sick,” and she was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons but paramedics believed she would be fine.

He said a number of emergency responders were at the scene, but “it’s always better to have more than you need than not enough.”

Montlake Road reportedly was shut down during the rescue.
