The 39th summer production of the Signal Mountain Playhouse is “Brigadoon,” which opens on July 9 and runs July 9-10, July 15-17 and July 22-24.
The show is about two modern-day New Yorkers who are in Scotland on a hunting trip. While walking in the woods, they come upon a town that isn’t on their map. Intrigued, they go into the town to discover a village from another era. The men in the village are wearing kilts, and the women are in long dresses with tartan sashes. There is no electricity or telephones. The two men, Tommy and Jeff, get caught up in the life of the town with Tommy, who is engaged to a woman at home, falling in love with the beautiful Fiona. Other complications arise in a love triangle that threaten the existence of the town.
Directing is Mike Lees, well known in musical and dramatic circles in Chattanooga, and choreographing is Jessica Laliberte Bowman of Squawking Heads Productions. Sandy Morris is conducting the 28-member Playhouse orchestra. For more information, go onto smph.org or call 423-886-5243.
