Nature lovers who time it right can get free tree seedlings each year from the Hamilton County Soil Conservation District.
This year, that time is 4-6 p.m. (or while supplies last) Friday, March 10, at two area malls.
Wildflower seeds also will be given away to further encourage pollination and beautification – the bees will thank you for it.
Seedlings will be distributed to any adult (or child accompanied by an adult) at the Hamilton Place mall entrance near Massage Envy Spa (between Sears and Belk) and in Center Court at Northgate Mall in Hixson.
Varieties will include silky dogwood, flowering dogwood and redbud, shown here.
Also assisting in the effort are the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s Forestry Division and Hamilton County Master Gardeners.
