Six firefighting companies now are battling a woods fire on the side of Walden’s Ridge above Soddy-Daisy.

The Sale Creek and Sequoyah volunteer fire departments and Walden’s Ridge Emergency Services have joined crews from the Soddy-Daisy department and the Mowbray Mountain and Dallas Bay volunteer companies who’ve been fighting the slowly creeping fire since Sunday afternoon.

Soddy-Daisy Fire Chief Mike Guffey said about 30 to 40 acres of land are involved.
