Walker Valley students stage ‘Joseph’ musical

Walker Valley High School will present final performances of its spring musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” this weekend. The production was brought back by popular demand after its first performance in the spring of 2005.

Written by British composing team Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, the musical is based on the coat of many colors story from the Bible.

The production features more than 40 cast members and a children’s ensemble. The orchestra, directed by Alan Hunt, is staffed by Walker Valley students. They are joined this year by four faculty members: chemistry teacher Phyllis Norman on piano, assistant principal Carol Peace on clarinet, assistant band director Colby Burris on lead guitar and Herb Snowman, band director at Lake Forest Middle School, on bass.

Performances start 7 p.m. today and Saturday in the Walker Valley auditorium, 750 Lauderdale Memorial Highway, in Cleveland, Tenn.

Tickets at the door are $7 for students, $10 for adults. For more information, call the school at 423-336-1383.
