KNOXVILLE – It’s been a productive day so far for Tennessee.
Twelve of the Volunteers’ 16 expected signees filed their paperwork to join the football program Wednesday morning, as well as three-star receiver Jerrod Means, who visited this past weekend but hadn’t committed to any program.
Means was formerly committed to North Carolina, but he backed out after a coaching change.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Means is timed in the 4.5-second-range in the 40-yard dash, giving the Vols the type of speed the team needs at that position. He was the second receiver to ink with the program this morning, as four-star Ramel Keyton was the first player to send in his paperwork.
Keyton was one of four four-star prospects to sign Wednesday morning, joining safety Jaylen McCollough, tight end Jackson Lowe and cornerback Tyus Fields.
Tennessee’s top prospect, offensive lineman Wanya Morris – a five-star prospect according to 247Sports.com and a four-star recruit according to Rivals.com – signed his paperwork and was one of three lineman to sign, joining Chris Akporoghene and Melvin McBride, both three-star prospects.
Also signing so far have been a quintet of three-star recruits in quarterback Brian Maurer, tight end Sean Brown, defensive tackle Elijah Simmons, athlete Aaron Beasley and cornerback Warren Burrell.
The Vols are still expecting four-star offensive lineman Jackson Lampley, three-star defensive end Roman Harrison and three-star defensive linemen Savion Williams and Darel Middleton to sign today.
