McMinn County Sheriff Steve Frisbie and his deputies still are investigating how an argument led to a domestic shooting and a husband and wife in the hospital.
“This is very unusual for our county as a whole,” Sheriff Frisbie said. “We don’t have this type of behavior going on.”
Deputies arrested Steven Holden, 35, and charged him with shooting two family members, Sheriff Frisbie said. The charges are two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of felony reckless endangerment, the sheriff said.
Mr. Holden’s arraignment was Monday and his court date set for Jan. 22, according to the McMinn Clerk of Court’s office. His bond was set at $200,000, but he had not paid it as of Monday afternoon, reports show.
Sheriff Frisbie said he could not give more details of the argument.
On Saturday, deputies were called to 240 County Road at 10:30 a.m., where they found three people wounded, Sheriff Frisbie said.
Daniele Belleisle, 18, had a gunshot wound to the arm and her husband, John Belleisle, 35, was shot in the thigh, Sheriff Frisbie said.
Mrs. Belleisle was flown to UT Medical Center and Mr. Belleisle was flown to Erlanger hospital, he said.
Mr. Holden also had a gunshot wound in the arm and was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center, the sheriff said.
Three adults in the house were witnesses to the incident, and a young child was present, he said.
