Today, we remember fallen soldiers. Want to help honor the memories of these brave military men and women? Here are three things you can do:
1. Sponsor a “thank-you” bouquet through Memorial Day Foundation, which will lay the bouquet at a war memorial of your choice.
2. Fly your American flag at half-staff until noon, and then raise it back to the peak. This is proper mourning etiquette.
3. Wear or display a red poppy, which is considered a memorial symbol for soldiers who have died in conflict. The tradition grew from a line in a World War I poem by Canadian Lt. Col. John McCrae, which reads, “In Flanders fields the poppies blow, between the crosses, row by row.”
