UT Vols’ Dormady ‘made the most of it’ while unable to throw

KNOXVILLE — For the first month or so he was on the University of Tennessee football team, Quinten Dormady was unable to do precisely what quarterbacks are supposed to do.

A lingering shoulder issue prevented the freshman from throwing until he was cleared until early February.

The delayed start to his career with the Volunteers, Dormady believes, didn’t set back his development too much as he chases the backup quarterback job this spring behind Josh Dobbs.

“I think I made the most of it,” the 6-foot-4, 200-pounder from Texas said after Tuesday’s practice. “Obviously not being able to throw sucks as a quarterback, but I think I did the most that I could not throwing — weight training, eating right and that kind of thing. I made the most of what I had.”

Now Dormady is making the most of Tennessee’s spring practices.
