Hixson-based Southern Tool Steel Inc. is planning a $1.7 million expansion as it eyes business with Volkswagen or the auto company’s suppliers.
The distributor of metals and plastics will double the production capacity of the operation and add 25 jobs within a year of completion, officials said.
STS is a metal supplier to machine shops, tool and die and manufacturing facilities including automotive parts stamping operations.
“We are very pleased to be expanding from a 35,185-square-foot facility to a 70,910-square-foot plant,” said company President Arnold Erwin. “This project is a milestone in our 26-year history.”
