Central Purple Pounders back to work after ‘complete game’ win

When Central beat East Hamilton in football last week, it actually was the third time the Purple Pounders had accomplished that feat.

Their two previous wins, though, came in 2009 and 2010 – the Hurricanes’ first two seasons to field a team. So it had been five years and four head coaches since Central beat them.

“It was good. I can’t even put into words how great it was for us,” first-year Central coach Cortney Braswell said of the 14-9 victory. “It was a tough game from start to finish, but we finally put in a complete game. I told the kids it proves that if you play four quarters you give yourself a chance to win.”

In his mind that victory was earned.

“Livingston gave us opportunities to win,” he said. “This one, against a quality opponent and at their place, we took it.”
