Walker Valley coach Glen Ryan will try to get the Mustangs ready for a return trip to the TSSAA playoffs this fall.Coach: Glen Ryan (5-6 here; 55-52 in 11 years overall)
Last year: 5-6; lost 44-16 to Lenoir City in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs
’13 dreams: Coming off a playoff appearance, the goal could be to maintain the initial success coming off Ryan’s first season. But that was a senior-laden team and the 2013 team has 38 freshman and only nine seniors on the roster, so the expectation will be to be competitive every week.
13 years ago: In the last season of the school, the Charleston football team won a school-record 11 games and advanced to the Class 1A state quarterfinals before falling to Boyd-Buchanan, which gave the Panthers both of their losses during the season. Walker Valley opened in the fall of 2001.
