RINGGOLD, Ga. — Volunteers are being sought to help raise flags in honor of deceased veterans in Ringgold.
The flags are flown for two two-week periods annually that include Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Only 19 flags were raised the first year of the effort, but this year there will be 970 flags, according to a news release.
The two-person job involves attaching a flag to a pole, inserting the pole through a cross and then putting it into a metal sleeve in the ground.
Volunteers are needed at 8 a.m. Wednesday to erect the flags and on June 4 at 10 a.m. to help take them down.
Anyone who can help is asked to call Pete Pedigo at 706-866-9089 or 423-240-9034 or Bill Rhinehart at 423-593-8915.
