Land Between the Lakes ready for holiday visitors

GOLDEN POND, Ky. – The National Forest Service says Land Between the Lakes is ready for company on Memorial Day weekend.

A news release from the agency says flood recovery has been swift at the national recreation area and all day-use, camping and recreation facilities will be open for summer’s first holiday.

Any roads still closed will be barricaded.

Potential visitors can go the LBL Web site and click on the Travel Flash button for updates. There’s also an information phone number at 270-924-2000.

The 170,000-acre national recreation area lies between Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake in Kentucky and Tennessee. It offers more than 100 miles of trails for hikers and bike riders.
