Churches and faith-based organizations are invited to have a little more conversation in order to make young people ready for successful adulthood.

The conversation, offered by the Maclellan Foundation in cooperation with the United Way of Greater Chattanooga, will be held at Ridgedale Baptist Church on Thursday, July 15.

The event is one of several such summits to be held in the city following Chattanooga’s selection earlier late last year as one of five Ready by 21 National Partnership communities.

The conversation, like similar ones to be held for families, schools, charitable organizations, businesses and governments, is geared toward ensuring success for young people in college, work and life, according to organizers,

“Ready by 21 is not a new program,” said Lesley Scearce, executive director of On Point, a Chattanooga-based organization youth development agency. “It is a collaborative program to harness all those things that are already being done and make them more effective. Because of the momentum behind this movement, this has the best chance of succeeding.”
