Your tax dollars at work?
Although federal officials fired CGI, a Montreal-based company, after it botched the roll-out on the Affordable Care Act website HealthCare.gov, the Internal Revenue Service has awarded the company a $4.5 million contract to handle its Obamacare tax program.
How’s that for government efficiency?
A June 2014 joint Senate Finance and Judiciary Committee staff report noted that Turning Point Global Solutions, hired by the Department of Health and Human Services to review CGI’s performance, found 21,000 lines of defective software code. Even former HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, before stepping down last year, called the CGI-designed website “a debacle.”
But CGI not only performed poorly on the HealthCare.gov website, it also failed to deliver on websites for — and was fired by — the states of Vermont and Massachusetts.
