Grading bids opened for ‘Project Hilltop’

RINGGOLD, Ga.– Catoosa County leaders opened six bids Thursday for contractors hoping to grade land for “Project Hilltop.”

The bids for the project, rumored to be a warehouse wholesale club just off Interstate 75, range from $3 million to $6.6 million to grade and prepare site for the development.

Twenty-nine contractors showed up for the mandatory pre-bid meeting but only six — one from Tennessee and five from Georgia — submitted bids.

At $3 million, Cleveland, Tenn.-based Wright Brothers came in with the lowest bid for the total project by more than $1 million, but county staff must review licenses, records and other paperwork before approving the bid.

After a bid is approved by an engineer, the county’s economic development authority and the County Commission must accept it, according to county staff.
