Twin brothers died in a Rossville house fire on Wednesday afternoon.
Someone called 911 at 2:14 p.m., reporting a fire at 1477 Dry Valley Road in southwestern Rossville, near Chattanooga Valley. Eight firefighter units responded, according to a release from Walker County, and they found flames covering about one-third of the home.
Walker County Coroner Dewayne Wilson said the 24-year-old men were found in a severely burned addition to a manufactured home on the property. The victims had not been identified by press time.
“It gutted the whole end of the structure,” Wilson said of the blaze.
State Fire Marshal Dwayne Garriss said the investigation is still open, but the scene appears to show that the fire began in the kitchen as someone cooked.
Wilson said Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiners will conduct autopsies.
He did not know Wednesday whether anybody else was in the home at the time of the fire, or whether foul play was suspected. According to the release from Walker County, firefighters did not find smoke detectors in the parts of the home untouched by the fire.
