The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team moved up two spots to No. 6 in the Football Championship Subdivision Coaches Poll, which is the program’s highest-ever ranking.

The Mocs (3-1, 1-0), who were off last week, had never been ranked higher than eighth in either the coaches poll or the FCS Stats Poll – the two polls recognized by the NCAA.

The team resumes practice Tuesday in preparation for a Saturday home game against Southern Conference opponent Furman (3-2, 1-0).

Huesman honored

Quarterback Jacob Huesman was named the Southern Conference’s Player of the Month.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound senior received the monthly honor for the third time in his career. He rushed for 376 yards and three touchdowns, while completing 64 percent of his 92 passes for 639 yards and six touchdowns in leading the Mocs to a 3-1 record.

He was named Player of the Week on two occasions, with two games in which he both ran and threw for over 100 yards, and had over 300 yards of total offense twice. He became the fourth player in league history to account for more than 9,000 yards of total offense in a career.
