If Moore sinned, he is long ago forgiven and more letters to the editors

Moore is living by his own bible

It would seem possible that a Nov. 17 letter writer (“Do not be too quick to judge Roy Moore”) has succumbed to fake news. I haven’t read anywhere in the mainstream media where one of the women accusing Roy Moore also accused several preachers of indecent conduct. The writer seems to ignore the testimony of several other women and witnesses who said Roy cruised the local mall, centering his attention on very young girls.

If these unnamed preachers lied, then they should get from God what they reserve for others. I have read where several evangelicals have excused Roy’s behavior by saying Mary was very young when Joseph married her, but Mary remained a virgin (Matthew 1:25). Understanding the customs of biblical times, probably due to environmental or economic pressures (remember “no money, no honey”), for Roy to be presented as a present-day Joseph cruising the mall looking for a Mary is ridiculous almost blasphemy. My Bible was canonized in 393 AD. The GOP bible, including the one used in Alabama, seems to get canonized daily, depending on what they want God to say.

TVA does what and gets this?

If workers in America got to write their achievement goals, they, like TVA, would meet or exceed them. It’s time Congress again limited CEO/directors’ pay (now $6 million with bonuses) to the congressional pay scale (as in the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s) and gave no bonuses for doing what you were hired to do.

Who brought Unit 2 at Watts Bar on line 20 years late? Who sold Bellefonte Nuclear Plant and associated lake property to Franklin Haney for pennies on the thousands of dollars? TVA couldn’t complete it; Haney will. TVA then will buy power from him.

Lastly, who got bonuses for fly ash spilled all over Kingston and for dumping a billion-plus gallons of fly ash slurry into the Clinch River? It is unmoved after 10 years and will take $1 billion to dispose of. Why were $115 million in bonuses given to employees who already make more than the average Tennessean not used to pay part of the fly ash disposal fee?

TVA still owes the government $25 billion but gives $11,000 bonuses to more than 10,000 employees. If it were a private utility, it would be forced into bankruptcy.

If Moore sinned, he is long ago forgiven

The firestorm over Judge Roy Moore is hypocritical. Yes, the accusations are bad. The man is a Christian, and whatever he did decades ago has been confessed to the Lord, repented of and forgiven by God who is “faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

We are all sinners in need of salvation, and once we make that commitment, our sins are put in the sea of forgetfulness, never to be remembered by the Lord again. We are to “judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (Matthew 7:1-2). Judge Moore’s accusers are becoming the accused – e.g., Al Franken.

I pray Alabama voters will see through this effort to keep Judge Moore from the Senate. He has boldly stood for truth. The Democrat Party approves the shedding of innocent blood (abortion) and redefined marriage.

Exodus 18:21 says, “But select capable men from all the people – men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain – and appoint them “

That’s Roy Moore.
