Between a day job working for Home Health Care of East Tennessee and an all-hours-of-day-or-night job managing his band, The Cadillac Saints, Jeremy Muse, 28, doesn’t do a lot of cooking.
“Being single, it’s way too much work most of the time,” he said.
Meals “vary from pretty healthy to going down to Taco Bell,” with frequent visits to local Thai restaurants, he said. Mr. Muse said he cooks one meal a week, if that. “There are some weeks I eat every single meal out,” he said.
Mr. Muse is in good company among Chattanooga singles who find themselves relying on takeout, fast food and spinster dinners, such as Lean Cuisine or Corn Flakes and microwave popcorn.
“As people are trying to eat healthier, they find themselves in a position of almost having to cook,” said Pamela Kelle, a Chattanooga-based registered dietitian, “and it can be a real dilemma for some people.”
