- Recommended adventure: Find your next eco-adventure or research opportunity with Nova Conservation, a new, locally owned business working to create the most comprehensive database of experiences for novice conservationists to professional biologists. Join Nova Conservation for its free Zoom launch party, Monday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. – when you’ll also have the chance to ask questions and discuss nature-related topics with six global conservationists. Register here or learn more about Nova here. (Bonus! Listen to Chad Wykle and Walden, Tennessee Mayor Lee Davis’ recent discussion of Walden Ridge Park, showcasing 200 acres of mountain biking, bouldering and hiking opportunities, slated to open this fall.)
- Most interesting thing we recently learned: The first snowy owl in Hamilton County, Tennessee, was spotted last week. Typically, the bird spends most of its year in the Arctic and has been known to come near the Great Lakes and throughout New England during winter months – though its winter migration almost never leads it this far south.
