Almost $1 million raised in memory of a young cancer victim will help finance a 64-slice CT scanner for T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital.
Erlanger hospital trustees approved the purchase at the Thursday night after hearing from Wendy and Jonathon Ransom, whose daughter died from the cancer neuroblastoma after four months of treatment at T.C. Thompson.
After their daughter’s death in 2006 at age 2, the Ransoms began a foundation, Emily’s Power for a Cure, to raise money for the scanner, Mrs. Ransom said to the board.
The Ransoms and the T.C. Thompson Children’s Foundation raised $909,000 in Emily’s honor, more than $300,000 of which came from the Ransoms’ donation.
