Leftist media wrong with shootings link

After Saturday’s atrocities, we heard government authorities across the spectrum, from the president down, condemn the Arizona shootings in dignified and appropriate words. Admirably, no effort was made to make political capital out of the event.

The same cannot be said of the Keith Olbermann-style left media. Within hours, Olbermann, leftist bloggers, and even the sheriff of Pima County were blaming the attack on “vitriol” generated by talk radio and Fox News hosts and tea party adherents. There is absolutely nothing known to the public at this point which demonstrates such a link.

The picture which has emerged of the shooter Loughner, largely from his own words, is that of a disturbed nihilist-atheist. No coherent political philosophy can be extrapolated from his half-educated musings, and no indications of influence from right-wing sources have surfaced.

Gabrielle Giffords is a moderate politician respected on all sides; the federal judge who died (probably coincidentally) was appointed by George H.W. Bush.
