KIMBALL, Tenn. — Kimball Park has seen some significant changes over the last two years, but a recent inspection revealed some issues that must be resolved before the $158,000 in Local Parks and Recreation Fund grant money the city used to upgrade it can be released.
April Johnson, with the Recreational Education Services Division of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, found some “minor issues” two weeks ago with the playground structure being installed by GameTime, of Fort Payne, Ala.
Not all those problems were resolved in TDEC’s re-inspection last week. The playground passed a head-impact study, but some problems remain with the slides and playground surfaces.
“There were some [Americans with Disabilities Act] issues that must be addressed before the grant is completed,” Mayor Rex Pesnell said. “[Johnson] found a few minor items that needed to be corrected.”
All of the identified problems were to be fixed by the installer, he said, so Kimball won’t have to spend any money on them.
