Gotten your politics fix lately?
In the news world, there’s been plenty of political noise of late – some good, some not so good.
We have a new Hamilton County School Superintendent, homegrown Justin Robertson. And that’s good.
On the not so good side, the Tennessee General Assembly has been up to its usual shenanigans, taking away safeguards, finding ways to spend more of our money and ways to ensure more Republican wins in the future. On the plus side, it seems some of our lawmakers have a bit of buyers’ remorse on the COVID-19 Omnibus package. Time will tell.
But if you’re ready to write state and local politics off, don’t. Get involved instead. The Hamilton County Voters Coalition would be a good place to start. Read on here to see what they’ve already done and plan to keep doing. And in case you are thinking of checking out on politics for a while, you’d best find a cave to live and work in during 2022. With at least 83 races on the Hamilton County ballot next year, it’s going to get a whole lot harder to tune out.
