Owner: Laura Jordan of Rock Spring
Date opened: April 2015
Offerings: Jordan creates custom monograms and appliques on “basically anything that you can embroider,” from clothing to tote bags. Her favorites are items personalized for special occasions. “I do a lot of gifts for people; that’s the best part of what I do,” she said. “People come to me with happy stuff like new babies, birthdays, travel – just different fun times in their life that they need a gift for.”
Most unique: The most unique item in Jordan’s creative arsenal are her handmade birth-announcement teddy bears, each of which displays the newborn bundle of joy’s name, weight, length and birthday on its soft and cuddly tummy.
Turnaround time: Each item is usually crafted and delivered within the week, which is one of the factors that Jordan says sets her apart from the competition. “Some of the bigger businesses that you use, it’s a couple of weeks before they can get your item back to you.”
Community response: “I probably have about three times as many customers as I did when I started,” said Jordan. That list of clientele includes Heritage High School and Heritage Middle School, both of which she said commission her to create jackets for their school bands. Her son, now 20, is a Heritage alum.
Location: Jordan’s home-based office is at 40 Barefield Lane in Rock Spring.
Availability: Monday-Friday by texting or calling 404-275-1099.
