CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Bradley Central girls’ basketball team went into Tuesday’s contest against crosstown rival Cleveland knowing it had a size advantage with freshman posts Brooke Copeland and Rebecca Reuter.
The Bearettes took full advantage of it.
The “twin towers” combined for 22 points and 25 rebounds, and the Bearettes controlled the game from start to finish for a 57-40 victory over the Lady Raiders at Cleveland.
Copeland, who played at Cleveland Middle School, led Bradley with 12 points. She hit a jump shot to give her team an 18-6 lead, and the Lady Raiders – who have seven freshmen and sophomores among their top eight – never got closer the rest of the way.
“We were just trying to crash the boards and find someone to box out on every play,” Copeland said.
