The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team practiced for a little more than two hours this morning at Scrappy Moore Field. Coach Russ Huesman said it was a “hit and miss” performance.
The Mocs will conduct their second scrimmage of the preseason on Saturday at Finley Stadium, but Huesman didn’t think his guys were looking ahead during today’s practice.
“They got their minds on the fact that we’ve been out here for 16 days and practiced and met for 16 days,” he said. “It’s hard and you’ve got to just fight through it.”
The long list of players that have sat out recent practices – among them tight end Garrett Hughes (shoulder), running back Keon Williams (ankle), defensive tackles Nick Craig (foot) and La’Nard Carr (foot/ankle) – will not play in the scrimmage.
The Mocs will take the field at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and the scrimmage will begin at 3. On Sunday, the team will be back at Finley for a “Meet the Mocs” autograph session following the UTC women’s soccer team’s 2 p.m. game. The Mocs will practice beginning around 6.
