Here’s a dam interesting fact: The amount of concrete used to construct the Hoover Dam would be enough to build a full-sized highway from one end of the U.S. to the other.
Though the dam didn’t officially open until March 1, 1936, on this day in 1935 it was officially dedicated by President Franklin Roosevelt, who took office halfway through its construction – and who promptly changed its name from “Hoover Dam” to “Boulder Dam.”
Fourteen years later, however, Congress changed its name back in honor, of course, of the president that preceded FDR, Herbert Hoover.

As if you needed another excuse to indulge, starting today, Krystal is adding Nashville-style hot chicken to its menu for a limited time.
And in more fast-food news, McDonald’s is finally taking a nibble of the plant-based burger with its new “PLT,” or plant, lettuce and tomato burger.
