Meigs County head football coach Stan Eller resigned, the school’s athletic director Clint Baker said Tuesday. Eller, who was in his second coaching stint with the program, had coached the Tigers the last two years, compiling a 5-15 record in that time.
“It’s been frustrating,” said Eller, whose overall coaching record is 74-59. “It’s been a struggle and we just haven’t been able to turn things back around so it’s time for me to move on.”
During Eller’s first term at Meigs from 1989-98, he guided the Tigers to a state runner-up finish in 1995 and to the semifinals in 1993. He then worked as an assistant at Soddy-Daisy, Hixson and Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe before returning to Meigs County in 2008.
