Dalton Ghost Tours will host authors who have investigated and written about the murders at Corpsewood Manor for a special theme night on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m.

Two men were brutally murdered on Dec. 12, 1982, in Corpsewood Manor, known as “the castle in the woods” in the remote mountains of Northwest Georgia. One of the victims, an accomplished scientist and university professor, was believed to experiment with the occult.

The murders of Dr. Charles Scudder and Joey Odom at Corpsewood Manor set the stage for a sensationalized trial. The case became a media sensation with allegations of satanic cults, supernatural curses and mind-control experiments.

Connie Hall-Scott, owner of Dalton Ghost Tours, will host three guests on Saturday night who will discuss their research into Corpsewood Manor. Afterward, Hall-Scott will lead guests on a walking tour of Dalton’s reportedly haunted locations.

The three featured speakers will be:

» Daniel Ellis: Author of “Corpsewood: A True Crime Like No Other.”

» Amy Petulla: Author of “The Corpsewood Manor Murders in North Georgia.”

» Melanie Mumea: Host of the Facebook page “Corpsewood Manor – A Castle in the Woods,” which she started as a memorial to Scudder and Odom. She will bring rare photos to share.

Dalton Ghost Tours meets at the wooden deck across West Crawford Street from the historic Wink Theater in downtown Dalton.

Tickets are $10-$15 and can be purchased on-site.
