Good morning and welcome to School Report.
Today, the Hamilton County Board of Education and Hamilton County Commission will meet for a joint redistricting meeting at 4:30 p.m. in the board room at 3074 Hickory Valley Road.
Board Chair Tucker McClendon announced the meeting date during the board’s regular meeting last week, following board conversations and a public comment period focused on the presence of library books with mature language and themes in Hamilton County Schools libraries.
Prior to the joint meeting, the commission has held redistricting workshops after its meetings and community meetings in members’ respective districts. The 11-district option favored by most of the commission two weeks ago left some community members with questions about feeder school patterns and the effects on the school board.
