University of Georgia president Michael Adams named Frank Crumley today as his interim athletic director, replacing Damon Evans, who resigned this past weekend following last Wednesday’s arrest on a DUI charge.
Crumley has been serving as Georgia’s executive associate AD for finance and business. During the 2005-06 fiscal year, Georgia’s athletic department had a surplus of $23.9 million, the largest among all NCAA institutions.
Adams believes there are strong internal candidates for the job on a permanent basis, but his desire is to look outside first for the next athletic director.
