The Renaissance Art Competition debuts at Chattanooga Market this Sunday. The art competition will feature the work of 15 artists. The art will be available for purchase.

Tickets for voting will be sold at $1 each, and guests can vote as often as they like, market officials said. All money raised from ticket sales will benefit Siskin Children’s Institute. The votes will be tallied and the winner of the Renaissance Art Competition announced at 3:30 p.m. Categories include painting, sculpture, design, photography, glasswork and other art.

According to Renaissance Art Competition’s website, www.renaissancecompetition.com, all competing artwork will be on display beginning at noon. Public voting and artwork judging will continue until 3 p.m.

“I hope the Renaissance Competition does for visual arts what shows like ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and ‘American Idol’ have done for the performing arts,” said event promoter Lance Charles, saying that the art will be unusual and diverse.
