Every Sunday in July, Signal Crest United Methodist Church will host a special concert series during its 11 a.m. service, a traditional service held in the church sanctuary. The concert series will be held in conjunction with a sermon series in July titled “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Red Sea.”

“During the music part of the service, each group is doing a mini concert to spruce up July a little bit,” said Signal Crest Music Director Allan Ledford, adding that many people travel in July and visit people on Signal Mountain, and he thought it would be nice to offer a special program for guests and members alike to enjoy.

The July 2 service will feature Brassworks, a six-member brass ensemble group formed out of the larger Jericho Brass Band that will play a selection of sacred and patriotic songs. The following week, July 9, the church will welcome Southern gospel group the Noblemen Quartet. Christian recording artist Mark Kroos, a guitarist, will perform July 16, and husband and wife vocal duo Tommy and Jana Preston will conclude the series during the July 23 service.

“I think it will be a musical lift in the middle of the summer to be able to come to a Sunday morning worship service and hear a variety of performers – everything from a gospel quartet to a very accomplished guitarist to a brass sextet,” Ledford said. “It should be a nice little concert series.”
