Normally, a “taste” of Chattanooga would involve weeks, if not months, of restaurant hopping and multiple tabs to pay. At Taste, Chattanooga’s restaurants gather in a single space for a sampling of specialties, all for the price of one indulgent meal.
This premier food event, a happy mix of music and food served up in a party atmosphere, is scheduled tonight, April 7, at Stratton Hall. Proceeds from the $40 ticket ($45 at the door) benefit the Kidney Foundation of the Greater Chattanooga Area. Guests receive one drink ticket (there’s a cash bar for more) and unlimited samplings of the food.
The 20 food providers taking part this year offer a chance to try tried-and-true favorites such as banana pudding, gumbo and barbecue sliders or delve into such temptations as Jezebel sauce, Chocolate Ecstasy and braised oxtail.
Between bites, guests can check out a silent auction offering local merchandise, gift certificates, trips and souvenir packages.
The Kidney Foundation of the Greater Chattanooga Area is not affiliated with the National Kidney Foundation and receives none of its funding, so 100 percent of funds raised locally stay in the area to help those suffering from kidney disease. The agency’s services include patient assistance, education, awareness and prevention efforts.
