In March 2017, according to an arrest warrant affidavit, Amy Gale Duckett told police that her girlfriend walked into the woods behind her house and disappeared. But in fact, police say, Duckett carried her girlfriend’s dead body and buried her in a shallow grave.

Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office investigators found the body of Christine Jessica Medlin behind the house at 170 Novella Drive on Wednesday morning. According to a news release, officers had just received information about where Medlin, 39, could be found. A spokesperson for the agency did not respond to questions about what information the department received.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, released to the Times Free Press today, Duckett buried Medlin’s body in January 2017.

She is not charged with murder. Instead, the sheriff’s office charged Duckett, 49, with concealing the death of another person, making false statements and hindering law enforcement.
