It is out with the old and in with the new for the river otter’s Cove Forest exhibit.
“This will be the year of the otters,” says Jennifer Wawra, herpetologist and otter keeper at the Tennessee Aquarium.
Opening May 2, the new exhibit, called River Otter Falls, will be a fun place for both otters and the guests who want to visit them.
“We’ve dramatically increased the amount of room the otters have and the environment is much more complex,” Dave Collins, curator of forests at the Tennessee Aquarium, says. “Our main goal is to create an enriched environment that will get them to behave in natural ways.”
The new exhibit features more water and land space for them to have the opportunity to forage and interact with each other, while also increasing guest viewing ability.
