Braves Caravan rolls into town Tuesday

Local Atlanta Braves fans have a chance to meet and greet players and maybe offer a little advice to the bullpen coach and general manager when the Braves Country Caravan stops in Chattanooga on Tuesday.

As of press time, six members of the organization were scheduled to appear at Academy Sports + Outdoors at Hamilton Place, including relief pitcher Cory Gearrin, a fourth-round draft pick who played at Rhea County High School.

Also on the bus will be relief pitchers George Sherrill and Eric O’Flaherty, center-fielder Jordan Schafer, bullpen coach Eddie Perez and general manager Frank Wren.

The caravan will make 15 stops in Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee before the team heads to Orlando, Fla., for spring training.

According to guidelines on the team website, autographs are on a first-come, first-served basis during the caravan and are not guaranteed. Photos of the players are permitted, but the 90-minute layover does not allow time for posed photos with the team.
