NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville police are planning a second “community shred day” for citizens to get rid of documents and help them avoid identity theft.
Thousands of pounds of documents were shredded Saturday as part of the first one.
Citizens made a $5 tax deductible donation to Crime Stoppers per banker box of records. Proceeds totaling $8,700 went to the Crime Stoppers reward fund, which is used to solve felony crimes in the Nashville community.
Six specially equipped shredding trucks were used.
Another similar event is planned for this fall.
